Many years ago same sex marriages was unheard of, in fact many people would frown at very sight of the same sex holding hands or even walking together. It’s funny how things have changed, today same sex marriages it is accepted in many states and although it is viewed legal. Same sex marriages is one of the most controversial topic’s of today. However, many people dislike and have various reasons why they are against same sex-marriages. Growing up I was always taught that homosexuality is immoral and marriage consist of a man and a women. This branch of government is also very instrumental when it comes to constitutional change. According to an internet article title Branches of government –public policy: gay marriage. The legislative branch introduces a bill that forces other states to view same-sex marriage equal and legal. It states that “on Jun 26th 2013 congress introduced a bill concerning same sex marriage. It was called the Respect for Marriage Act, this bill would make other states recognize a legal same-sex marriage from another state” (Web). The way this bill works gay marriages is viewed as one and has the same equal rights just like heterosexual couples. What was once unheard of is now the present but in many eyes like my own; it will always be viewed as a sin, wrong and immoral. This means making sure that everyone from the court system to the Supreme Court understands and follow the laws in regards to same-sex marriages and “In a long – sought victory for the gay rights movement, the Supreme Court ruled by a 5- to-4 vote on Friday that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.” (Adam Liptak )This ruling to making same-sex marriage right in the eyes of our nation favors gay marriages, This victory pretty much put an end to everyone personal views thought and feelings about same-sex marriages . They have the same rights and benefits as a heterosexual married
