Should there be charges for certain appointments and treatments on the NHS?
According to Weston (2016), 67 percent of the respondents in a study conducted chose that those who make unhealthy lifestyle choices should not pay for their own healthcare. This shows that majority of the respondents ruminate that NHS should be free for all. There should not be a charge on treatments and appointments on NHS. The National Health Services is a public healthcare service for all citizens which is vastly based on their need for health care. Everyone needs some kind of health service at one point and a cost should not be put on someone life, not charging for NHS may contribute to a reduced mortality rate in the country and also citizens argue that they already pay for these services through taxation and other contributions.
There should not be a charge for appointments and treatments as the NHS should not create a financial strain for persons who seek medical help. Consequently, a lot of persons are being neglected in obtaining medical help based on the notion that it is highly costly and they cannot afford the charges. In addition, the NHS should be beneficial to people irrespective of their monetary circumstantial and charging for these appointments and treatments on NHS make this idea highly redundant. People in seeking NHS may lie about illness or symptoms of that illness to avoid higher costs. Citizens will also think twice about getting medical help.
