Significant events affect everybody in different ways either negative or positive. People often see significant events as positives like graduating high school or winning a championship, but the reality is that significant event could be one that changes or even scar you for the rest of your life. This could be in the form of a relative dying or your parents divorcing. This affected characters in the book Death of a Salesman, like Willy Loman and his son Biff Loman even Willy’s wife Linda Loman. Individual’s choice can be dramatically impacted by significant events. An example of a negative effect a significant event had a person was Willy Loman. Willy a loving father wanted the best for his son Biff who was a star athlete who was destined to make it in this world. One day he went to tell his dad about the good news about how his teacher was willing to meet with Willy and Biff, to pass him in math so he could go to college. Then BIff soon found out Willy was having an affair, Willy then keeps this a secret from Linda which leads to Willy becoming ashamed, to the point of him trying to end his own life out of shame. Willy would retreat into the past to get away from the depression and anxiety that he possessed in him. Willy couldn't also get over the fact that Biff gave up on his life, Which leads to Willy obsession to be successful like his brother Ben. …show more content…

Linda was the positive base of the family she held everyone together, She keeps Willy on the brink of insanity. Linda was also the reason that Biff and happy all came back to visit. It wasn't always a positive Cause she had to control the feuding between Willy and Biff. Her constant denial of WIlly’s suicidal tendencies made her easy for Willy to take bad about her and treat her poorly. Even then she still stood by his side and was the positive rock in the family keeping everyone from fighting and keeping them
