A serpentine belt, also known as a multi-vee, poly-v, or multi-rib belt, is one long winding belt that keeps the alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning and in some cases the water pump running smoothly and working properly. If it is put on wrong or needs to be changed some of the signs may be; squealing, check engine light illumination, and system performance loss. If the serpentine belt is working improperly it will squeal and it can also bring about other mechanical issues.
