In the 20th century, there was a rise in sports popularity in the United States. Ones that were started even before the turn of the 20th century is baseball and hockey. Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League have become one of the biggest sports in the world. Baseball came from our roots after the Civil War and hockey from Canada. Now we have leagues for both sports to cheer on our favorite teams. There are many differences and similarities between both sports and how each sport works. To play both you need to be skilled, athletic and especially have good hand-eye coordination. Baseball has been around since before the turn of the 20th century. Clubs were started by men getting together and competing against one another is what started the game us Americans love today. Baseball, while slower paced than hockey, is an interesting game. The way it is managed, or coached is much different from hockey. The way some players hit better, or pitch better to a certain player is one of the ways that make the game interesting. Penalties are what can cause a team to lose a skater for a few minutes of the game, which is different from baseball when there are no penalties.
