The Relevancy Between George Orwell's 1984 And Our Present Day George Orwell's 1984 continues to be relevant today in the ways of government control, technology, and the similarities between 1984 and the controls effect on people.
Politics are important. Being informed about whatś going on in the world is important, but oftentimes people let it affect them greatly. It can affect their mood, influence their thoughts. George Orwellś 1984 is a very political book and brings up some important questions regarding advanced technology and The Party with its similarities with control and modern day government.

One could argue that Orwells telescreens are alive and well in 2017, taking the form of our handheld smartphones. There are few places one can go where there isn't a phone nearby, and more often than not, that phone is our very own.¨ This quote shows examples of how in today's world the government may not have telescreens anymore but they are now listening, tracking, and controlling us from our cell phones which is similar to what Big Brother was doing in 1984. A quote from ¨George Orwell's 1984¨ that is relevant to this is¨ There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to.¨ (Orwell 3). This quote explains how the telescreens are always listening and watching everyone at all times, if they see or hear anything that is out of their ¨norm¨ The Party can see that and will do something about it. The telescreens are just an example of how controlling The Party is and how strict they are on their rules. Another way George Orwell's 1984 shows relevance in today's world is the way people were affected and treated during the times of 1984 and during Covid. Between the current day and the time of 1984 we see a lot of similarities with how the government brainwashes and manipulates the people.
