All four creation stories give reasons of why the world is the way it current stands. They also all include the earth was created as a “dome” shape. Some major differences between the stories is Atrahasis and Enuma Elish involve many gods making it polytheistic and the two creation stories in Genesis involve only one god making it monotheistic. The story of Enuma Elish and Atrahasis have many similarities including that humans were created from a god (Enuma Elish VI.33 and Atrahasis I.203), which the God Ea always had a role in during both stories and humans were created to do god’s work (Atrahasis I.237-239 and find). The Documentary Hypothesis consist of the first five books of the Old Testament, also known as the Torah and contains four sources: J-Source, E-Source, D-Source, and P-Source. All the sources differ in their divine name, purpose, content, character and more. The J-Source, also know as the Yahwist, is a view from the southern kingdom Judah. It uses the name Jehovah and YHWH when referring to the deity. It’s date originates from the 10th and 9th century and it’s purpose is to legitimize David through legitimizing Hebron. David was the second king of Israel who helped unite the north and the south. Some textual evidence of when David ruled is states in Second Samuel:“The time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months” (Second Samuel 2:11). David was anointed the King of Israel, “So all of the elders of Israel came to the king of Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king of Israel” (Second Samuel 5:3). He continued to reign for forty years. The J-Source content and character consist of fantastic narratives with an anthropomorphic deity for example, in the flood story of the J-Source YHWH was “sorry he had made humankind” (Genesis 6:6). Other important stories in the J-Source consist of the creation stories (Genesis 1:1- 2:4 and Genesis 2:4- 2:25) and Abrahamic covenant in Genesis 15. The E-Source, Elohist, is the traditional view of the northern kingdom. It refers to the deity as Elohim prior to the revelation of God’s name by Moses, which was YHWH. The purpose of the E-Source is to Legitimize the North Kingdom. Jeroboam 1, the first king of the north, builds the Golden Cafes at Dan and Bethel for YHWH. One of the Golden Cafes were built in the north, which the other was built in the south because of the Assyrian Exile, which is where the J-Source and the E-Source are integrated. In Genesis 28, we find out that Jacob renamed the city of Luz to Bethel in verse
