Atticus Finch and Martin Luther King Jr. are very similar in they way that they argue through the use of Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. Atticus may be a fictional character, but he is an extremely influential person in both the fictional world and the real one. Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist who wanted equal rights for black and white people alike. Both attempted to get equal rights.
Atticus attempts to appeal to the jury’s logic in a southern Alabama courthouse. The setting all but screams racism. Atticus still fights for equal rights; fully aware of the bias opinions of those around him. Atticus uses hard facts to dissect the witness reports and exploit the flaws in each story. MLK uses logic and his knowledge of the law to set up perfect protests that are legal, non-violent, and will be heard. His speeches appeal to the logic that all people hold. He uses logos to make every person understand what he is saying and eventually gets equal rights for black people.
