Although Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 preceded The Wachowskis’ The Matrix by almost half a century, they share many themes -- both overt, and covert. In Fahrenheit 451, the protagonist Montag goes through three phases of life: being oblivious to the dystopia, being in conflict about it, and resolving to be liberated from it. Montag’s ‘awakening’ was caused by his own curiosity and internal dissatisfaction with his life and the world he lived in. However, the actions that he took seemed to be completely subconscious, and not planned. In comparison, in the Wachowskis’ The Matrix, the protagonist Neo made the conscious decision to take the red pill, which represented his desire to learn the truth about the world.
Mary Oliver's poem, “The Journey” shows many similarities in how characters react to situations in the stories “The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant” and “Through the Tunnel.” One example of this is when Oliver says that “the voices around [the characters/ kept shouting/ their bad advice” (3-5). In “The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant” the narrator seems very uncertain of himself when trying to ask Shelia Mant out on a date. The narrator may have kept thinking that Shelia would reject him, so he talked down on himself. Thus making him lose confidence (Wetherwell 308).
The Monster from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Charlie from Flowers for Algernon have many similarities. “People don't talk to me much anymore or kid around the way they used to. It makes the job kind of lonely”. In the sentence, Charlie explains how, as he grew smarter, everyone became afraid of him and avoided him, making him feel lonely. “You must create a female for me with whom I can live in the interchange of those sympathies necessary for my being.
With almost thirty years between the start of their dictatorships, it seems unlikely that Mao Zedong and Joseph Stalin would hold many similarities. While they seem very different, similarities between the two stem from their childhoods. Joseph Stalin, born in 1879 to a poor family in Gori, Russia, later became dictator of the Soviet Union from the 1920s until his death in 1953, where he was responsible for upwards of twenty million deaths through his purges (Biography in Context). Mao Zedong was born in Shaoshan China in 1893, fourteen years after Stalin. Later in his life, he was head of the Chinese Communist Party between the years 1949 to 1976, the year of his death.
B. Scarface Scarface is a cautionary tale. Drugs, violence, drugs, materialism, drugs, immorality and more drugs. The movie explores a lot of themes, crime, politics, psychology and the “American Dream”, all which is portrayed in a bloody and foul-mouthed manner. Scarface is a glorified portrayal and subversion of crime life at the same time. Tony Montana is an immigrant that has nowhere else to go, he then goes to a life of crime, got rich, and then goes down.
Oliver Queen is the main character from the TV show ‘’Arrow’’. A hero is a person who deals with a dangerous situation without thinking of himself. I chose this particular hero, because he wants to improve the quality of life in his city known as Starling City. He fights crime using archery, martial arts, and technology. He hides his real identification and named himself ‘’The Green Arrow’’.

In both Shawshank Redemption and The road both Frank daramont and Cormac McCarthy showed that just surviving in their dangerous environments was a constant fight. In both these texts, the protagonists faced a number of differences including their setting and the way they were shown but there were a number of similarities one in particular was that surviving was there main goal. For the father in the road, it was the survival of his son that mattered while for Andy it was the survival of his hope so one day when he escaped he wouldn’t have lost his spark. In conclusion both McCarthy and Darmont used the setting, characterization, and symbolism to show how the significance of survival as a drive for the protagonists. Both Andy and the Father
INTRODUCTION The films Scarface (1983) and The Godfather (1972) are both crime-drama films which focus on the rise of their respective characters up the criminal ladder, becoming leaders on their own right and experiencing parallels on their stories while interacting with characters with duality in rules for both films. Scarface’s Tony Montana opted for drug trade and started his own empire on the back and blood of the people he killed, while Michael Corleone took matters to his own hands when he saw his family being besieged by the other families, psychologically exploring the minds of the characters while trying to deal with outside threats and stimulus. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM 1. What are the similarities of the film?

Experimental data determined that there was a difference of .003g between using the single solvent in comparison to the paired solvent.
