Some directors like to make some drastic or minor changes based on their own interpretation of the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare. While watching both Goold (2010) and Polanski (1971), I have noticed a lot of major differences between the two movies and the original play Macbeth written by William Shakespeare. Some of the differences I have noticed is that is in Goold (2010), Macbeth actually comes to kill Lady Macduff and her children. Another difference in Goold (2010) is that the witches are shown throughout the film.
The Thane of King Duncan, Macbeth hears a prophecy that he himself will become king later on in the future after King Duncan. This then leads to Macbeth being overcome by greed. Since Macbeth greeds to be king so bad, he murders King Duncan and takes his place of the throne. After Scotland's victory Macbeth ran into three witches who prophesy that he will become thane of Cawdor and then king. Soon after, Macbeth discovers he has been made thane of Cawdor, which leads him to believe the rest of the prophecy (22). When king Duncan comes to stay at Macbeths castle, he plans to kill him. After the king is found dead Macbeth kills the guards and seeks to kill his best friend Banquo because he is the only other person who knows about the prophesies.

Eager to have power, Macbeth had chosen to make them come true while Banquo had let faith be. Macbeth easily convinced had decided to follow the prophecies that led to him going crazy and murdering anyone he had felt threatened by which reveals his true character. In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, Banquo and Fleance play important roles in the play shaping the overall outcome of this written work. Banquo is a fellow general and companion of Macbeth, who receives a prophecy from the Witches along with Macbeth. This Prophesy saying that Banquo will father a line of kings, this new found knowledge will ultimately leads to his murder. Fleance is Banquo's son who by escaping Macbeth's murderous plot, will go on to be father to a line of kings as well as king himself. Although these characters don’t have that many lines in comparison to other characters their lines and actions have a great deal of symbolism and foreshadowing that complement the building up of the plot.

He was the king of Scotland, little did he know when he would come to Castle Inverness in Northern Scotland his life would end. Macbeth was a thane of northern Scotland, He was given a prophecy by three witches that said he would be king. After that he began to think of how to be King.
Scotland’s King is assassinated while he sleeps and then an evil Tyrant takes over the kingdom whose head is controlled not by himself but by three mysterious Witches telling him what to change in the Kingdom. Even people in this play were impacted such as Macduff who lost his wife, kids, and castle servants because he tried to remove Macbeth from power. Fleance, who was Banquo’s son, lost his father because Macbeth didn’t want Banquo to remain a threat to him and even an attempt on Fleance was made. Another horrible happening for our tragic hero was that Macbeth lost his own mind to an outside control and this ruined how he saw the world. The feelings and thoughts of all in Scotland were twisted when their own king became a ruthless tyrant that only cared about him staying in power.
Macbeth and Banquo then meet three witches who tell them that Macbeth is to be named Thane of Cawdor and eventually king of Scotland. As the story would have it, he is named Thane of Cawdor. Now here is where the evil comes into play. Macbeth invites King Duncan of Scotland to his castle to visit, and when he arrives, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth plot to kill the king while he is sleeping. Macbeth is hesitant about the whole scheme, but his wife pressures him and he caves in.
Macbeth and Banquo were seen as relatively similar individuals who acted with nobility. At the beginning, they both were loyal military leaders who fought hard for their king and their country. However, after their encounter with the Three Weird Sisters, they began to show their differences through the actions they make in regards to prophecies they were given. Macbeth and Banquo were both heroic, noble and brave leaders who led their armies to victory numerous of times. They were loyal subjects to the king, and they lived their lives continuously fighting for him as well as the country.
