Kim Jong Un & Macbeth Analysis
There are many leaders in today's world that could be compared to the way Macbeth leads but I think the person that compares to him the most is Kim Jung Un. Macbeath leads his country with an iron fist and is overall a ruthless and violent king, just like how Kim Jung Un holds North Keira in his grasp of terror. Macbeth and Kim Jung Un share qualities of how they lead, such as ruthlessness, power hungriness, and courage.
Macbeth and Kim Jung Un are both ruthless leaders in their worlds. Macbeth is so ruthless he will kill anyone who stands in his way of power or get rid of anything in his way. ¨In the text it states, “Seize upon fife, give to the´edge o'th sword. His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls.¨ (Shakespeare.4.1.155) This shows how ruthless Macbeth is because he is willing to kill Macduff and his entire family because they oppose his power. Early on in the tale of Macbeth he is known as an honorable soldier but by the end he shows his true colors. In the text it states "Brave Macbeth, well he deserves that name" (Shakespeare.1.3.9). This quote shows that throughout the book he changed alot for the worse but one trait that stuck with him is how courageous he was. The same could be said for Kim. He has killed many people and is a horrible person but yet he is still standing strong and courageous. In the text it states,“ Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which has posed a major challenge to the country’s economy and could potentially cause a major health crisis, Kim Jong Un today appears more confident than ever.” (Naoko Akoi, A Decade of the Kim Jong Un Doctrine).
