Gods and goddesses were very important to the Greek culture and their daily life revolved around worshiping each one of them. Many movies have been focused around Greek culture and how the gods and goddesses were cherished in society. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is an example of a movie in which the Greek gods and goddesses are shown in today's culture through movies. This movie embraces each of the gods and goddesses throughout the whole movie. Each demigod reflects their godly parent, showing the strengths and traits of each god and goddess in which the Greeks had once described them as. Demigods are offspring of a mortal and a god, each has some powers of their godly parent but not all of them. In the movie Percy is an example of a demigod, the only son of Poseidon; God of the sea. These demigods go to a camp called camp half-blood, where they can learn how to use their strengths, learn how to fight, and be protected from all the crazy monsters after the half-bloods. At these camps each demigod is sorted into a cabin based on their godly parent who eventually claims them for everyone to see. Whether your parent was Poseidon, Zeus, Athena, Hades, Hermes, Hephaestus, Apollo, Aphrodite and so on; each demigod learns how to protect themselves and complete the quests they are destined to. Each demigod has power and personality traits that reflect their godly parent these traits are much like the ones the Greeks had used to describe gods and goddesses. For example, when the campers play capture the flag Percy heads toward the water after being injured, as he is in the water his wounds seal up and he is refreshed. Like Poseidon he is able to use water and the sea to many different extremes as the Greeks had described him. Percy is the son of Poseidon while his friend at camp half-blood, Annabeth who is the daughter of Athena; the goddess of wisdom and war. Annabeth and her siblings are very wise and have a talent for situations consisting of battles and war. Not to mention these gods and
