What could be so bad about being the son of one of the most powerful gods of Greek Mythology? You would have amazing powers, be worshiped by many, and live in luxury with the gods. Well, Percy Jackson wishes this was what the life of a demi-god was like, especially since he is Poseidon’s son. Instead this demi-god has monsters hunting him every turn he goes, jealous uncles, a missing mother, ADHD and dyslexia, and not to mention a quest that he is thrown into. Percy and Annabeth got their tickets to Las Vegas when they go on a smaller quest for Are’s. In Las Vegas, they get stuck in a casino. In Los Angeles they almost get stretched to death, but they get out of it thanks to Percy’s cunning plans. The three of them reach the underworld, fail to save Percy’s mother and on the way to Olympus (which is back in New York) Percy fights Are’s, the god of war, but returns the lightning bolt, thus finishing the quest. I loved the adventure in the book; it is a captivating story. People who are close to Percy’s age can relate through the thoughts going on in his head. It has humorous moments in the story that will draw the reader’s attention. I think kids that have a wild imagination or love adventure will adore this
