The Passion of a Man's Heart In the piece of piece of literature Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, one of the main characters Romeo is plagued by the fact that he is unable to court Rosaline, a woman who he has convinced himself is his true love because she is a nun.Romeo then is brought to a party by his cousin Benvolio, and it is there which Romeo sees Juliet-the lady who he eventually takes his own life to be with - and falls in love with her. Romeo comments that he will use a tender kiss because he wants to be gentle while expressing his love for juliet. This just shows how he had true love for Juliet because he wasn't just looking to give himself pleasure with the kiss but he made sure to be gentle so that she would feel the love through his kiss. In addition, Romeo confesses his love for Juliet while she is up on the balcony. Romeo had convinced himself that he loved rosaline; he cried for so long thinking about how he could not have her, but when he sees Juliet we see that he truly did not love Rosaline. We see that Romeo never truly loved Rosaline, but instead we see that all this time he was forcing himself to want her; because if he truly did love her he would not have shifted his feelings away from her so quickly. This quote just further proves how Romeo didnt actually love Rosaline because in the span of just a few days he went from being depressed and suicidal because he didnt have a chance with Rosaline to being so happy with Juliet. It is impossible for anybody to truly love someone; then just a few days later completely forget them and the memories of them for someone new like Romeo did. What Romeo says here is that he thought he had seen true beauty in Rosaline, he thought that there could never be a girl to fill the spot Rosaline had in his heart, he thought he had seen true love with rosaline;but he thought so very wrong.
