Both were similar in that they were dealing with racial segregation in what is termed the deep southern states. So their environments were similar. but different in perspectives. one being a child and the other a man. Scout was raised to be open minded in an environment that nurtured her in the belief that all people were equal regardless of race or class.

The most important characteristics of a hero are courage and determination. Fredric Douglas and Atticus Finch are both excellent examples of heroes. Fredric Douglas and Atticus Finch both show traits such as courage, determination, and kind hearts.
This piece is called “The Other Wes Moore” produced by Wes Moore in the year 2012. Wes Moore wasn't as privileged with his family and surrounding like others might have been. Wes Moore wasn't a great kid, he found things to fill in the free time including negatively affecting stuff. This piece is emotional and subjective, it analyzes how everything came together, and he shows passion and thoughtfulness. The author's purpose of this piece was to show how the choices people make when they're younger can be impacted by the environment one is surrounded with.
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, there are many similarities between the narrator, Scout, and the author, Harper Lee. For instance, both grew up in the time of the great depression with little money to do extra things; therefore, they relied on their imaginations to entertain them for hours (Haggerty) . Comparatively, both were tomboys in their youths and grew up in small towns where girls were expected to wear dresses and act like a lady. Also, both Harper Lee and Scout both grew up with their fathers being lawyers for their town and would often hear of cases that they worked on (“Harper Lee”) . Similarly, when writing her book a “mad dog warning” was released, no doubt giving the idea for the episode of the mad dog Tim Robinson.

The novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, is the story of the childhood of a young girl named Jean Louise “Scout” Finch. Throughout the book, Scout’s father, Atticus, tries his best to raise her and her brother, Jem, the right way as a single parent. To Kill a Mockingbird exemplifies the way the character of Atticus Finch either uses ritual or abandons it in order to develop certain character qualities within his children. He specifically focuses on the development of honesty, courage, and humility.

Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is a thought provoking novel about childhood in an old Southern town. Prejudice is a recurring theme; throughout the novel we watch Scout absorb the discriminatory views of the town, and eventually find the fault in these views and form her own. There are many parallels between the novel and the Australian film Jasper Jones – they both address everyday prejudice, systemic prejudice and show characters overcoming prejudice. By using characterisation, lighting, setting, mis en scene, symbolism and camera shots both texts thoroughly examine the theme of prejudice.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a 1962 film adaptation of the classic Harper Lee novel set in the early 1930's at a time of prevalent societal racism towards people of colour, while the 2009 film Jasper Jones, focuses on the prejudice faced by the indigenous teenager Jasper Jones. In the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” author Harper Lee portrays the character Atticus Finch is portrayed as a courageous father and human being. Atticus Finch is strong in the way that he does not let small stuff get to him and mess with him and that he does not show weaknesses.
Every day in our lives, heroes are all around us. They may not be what society tells us is a hero, like Superman or Batman. They do not wear fancy costumes or have super powers. But these heroes change the lives of the people around them, for the better. Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird is the charismatic, understanding father of Scout and Jem Finch as well as a hard working lawyer in Maycomb County, Alabama.
Simply having these qualities is not what defines courage; but by using them in the face of adversity. The actions of Jem, Scout, Atticus and Boo exhibit these qualities in Harper Lee’s timeless classic, To Kill a Mockingbird. For the duration of the novel, readers embrace the concept that courage is not only pursuing a frightening act, but completing on it as well. This is engraved through the events and characters in the small town of Maycomb. Dolphus Raymond have very different morals but have the courage to speak out about them, no matter what society says.
To Kill A Mockingbird Literary Analysis Throughout To Kill A MockingBird, by Harper Lee there are many acts of courage. This is shown in Atticus Finch, Jem Finch, and Boo Radley. Atticus shows the most courage in the book but all three of these characters show true courage in some way, shape, or form. Boo Radley showed a lot of courage, but he was not in the storyline as much as Atticus. Throughout To Kill A Mockingbird, courage is defined as standing up for people and doing what’s right.
Not only did Atticus Finch influence his children, he influenced the people around him and made the city of Maycomb a better place. Scout, at seven years old, knew more things about the world than people who are two times her age. Thanks to her great example, Atticus Finch, she was able to mature very quickly and have respect for every person she meets. Overall, the novel To Kill A Mockingbird provides many examples of the unmotivated love, agape, throughout the story. Not only did Harper Lee connect Atticus Finch’s character to the unmotivated love, agape, but she also connected the theme of her novel with agape as well.
