Prejudicial thinking regarding race is a prevalent and pervasive issue in society. Whilst contemporary instances of racism in media aren't as grotesquely conspicuous as those of previous centuries, their severity is still significant as illustrated by the novel and film adaptations of the literary works To Kill a Mockingbird and Jasper Jones. To Kill a Mockingbird is a 1962 film adaptation of the classic Harper Lee novel set in the early 1930's at a time of prevalent societal racism towards people of colour, while the 2009 film Jasper Jones, focuses on the prejudice faced by the indigenous teenager Jasper Jones.
