How is The House Of The Scorpion by Nancy Farmer and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury examples of a dystopian fiction? You might be thinking what is a dystopia? A dystopia is a made up fictional society or even a world where any living things emotions, mood, or even their appearance is controlled or supervised. They do these things such as control your emotions and mood or your appearance to just maintain a “perfect society”. They also uphold this “perfect society” by having control systems like Corporate control, Bureaucratic control, Technological control and lastly Philosophical Control or Religious control. They make you believe that a idea or certain thing is wrong when most of the time there is more to the story of why this certain thing is wrong or not wrong at all. You might ask how can someone make you believe a certain idea is wrong or right? They enforce that through fear and many other tactics! Some characteristics of the dystopian society Montag lives in is when people didn't obey orders of that society their home got burned to the ground with them in it sometimes. An example of this would be when the woman in the book wouldn't leave her house full of books the fireman proceed burned the house up with her in it and didn't even care about the horrible act they had done after!The people of the society Montag lives in were made to think innocent people getting their homes destroyed and even burned to death wasn't bad at all because they were numbed by the constant bombardment of the television and more high technological things.
