In the story Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the main character, Montag, has to navigate though a dystopian society while war is on the brim. Montag has to figure out who he can trust that has not been brainwashed by technology, he remembers a friend, Faber, they meet and devise a plan. Later on, Montag ends up getting caught hiding books. The other firemen take action and come after him which causes him flee the society and the dangers that threaten him. He meets a group of people and their “leader” Granger and they watch the fall of society due to the war. The second book is The Veldt. In The Veldt the children become detached and cruel as a result of their dependence on the virtual reality nursery. This is shown when the story says, “Now the lions were doe feeding. They moved to the water hole to drink. A shadow flickered over Mr.McCleans hot face. Many shadows flickered. The vultures were dropping down the blazing sky.”(Bradbury, 12) This shows that the kids became so out of touch wth reality that they ended up klling their parents because they did not want them to turn off the nursery that they have become addicted to. This proves that technology has replaced the ones that they love and shows that it might minpuate others and this could become common or happenn alot, which is why technology is so dangerous in Ray Bradburys eyes. In Fahrenheit 451 the protagonist, Guy Montag, transforms from a fireman who burns books to a rebel who fights against the government's suppression of knowledge. This is shown when Guy Montag thinks, "He was not the same man he had been an hour ago. A long time ago, he thought. A million years ago." (Bradbury, 56) This shows Montags transformation from a regular brainwashed person in society to a critical thinker who questions the norms of his society and the technology they watch.
