Being isolated from yourself and being lonely is something that affects everyone at some point in their life and no one likes it. In the novels To Kill a Mockingbird and Wonder, there are protagonists who can relate to each other since they have both grown up in struggling situations. August in Wonder has facial deformities which lead to him being alone and give him the struggle of making friends. Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird has Autism which leads to him struggling with society and himself. Both situations make it extremely hard for these kids to grow up. Boo was not a super normal kid; he had Autism but was also very pale and looked like he never ate any food, so he was very skinny. People in the novel said that he even looked dead a couple of times they have seen him outside of his house because of the way his eyes are grey, and his hair is very thin which makes it look dead. He has had an awfully hard childhood since no kids would ever want to be his friend. He means good but so many people would talk about him in bad ways and makeup story’s that possibly are not true which led kids to be scared and believe that he was dangerous. August and Boo both know that there not normal and have problems and that it will affect there day to day life since people do not want to talk to them just because of the way they act or look. This can even affect their mental health at such an early age which can ruin those kids’ life and leave them in mental pain for the rest of their life. Often kids around the age of August and Boo will act like nothing of that stuff bothers them but truly inside it hurts and do not want to show emotion to the problems they have. I have gone through some of those problems with kids in the past of my life and I never told anyone and just kept it all in It can affect people badly because it can cause someone to act out and make it harder for that person to focus and move on with life since they keep getting hated on which leads to that person being sad all the time or not having a lot of self-confidence. Without having self-confidence, it can lower a person’s motivation to not be doing things and you can see that in the book Wonder when a kid says he would rather kill himself than look like August. He heard that and did not feel good which led him to not do anything for the rest of the day. This can be a common thing to happen because so much of what happening gets built up in your head and it is hard not to think about
