Victor and the monster both have desires that they want to achieve, but they both don’t get to as they’re problems they have to face, which these problems have serious effects on them and their goals. Victor and Elizabeth both about to be married, but the monster came and killed Elizabeth and Victor ran away, far and far through the north where eventually he died in the ship, lonely just like the monster was too. Victor discovers Elizabeth’s dead body and shows his reaction upon it. “Great God! Why did I not then expire! This backfired as Victor didn’t want to make another monster and the monster was furious and the monster decided to let Victor run away as he was going to kill his family. So he can feel the loneliness of what the monster was feeling. The monster discovers that Victor decided to not work on the monster anymore and the monster says this. “You have destroyed the work...Do you dare to break your promise?” (pg.122) Victor decides to make another monster but he knew it was going to take a long time so he decided to break the promise and when the monster found out he asked if he wants to break the promise and Victor agreed to it, he told Victor to leave as he is going to spare him but not his family as the monster is going to kill his family during marriage night. Which made the monster’s desire come to an end while Victor’s desire is going to be a problem that will end his desire which the monster killed his wife during marriage night.
