Firstly, Simon portrays the sage archetype through the way that he shows his traits of maturity, care and sympathy, and knowledge of truth. Simon shows his maturity in different ways in the novel; this includes: his level-headedness, and his look out for others’ well-being. When Simon sees that a hut made of sand has been toppled over, he is frowning at the sight of it, “He had stood frowning down at the pile of sand on the beach where somebody had been trying to build a little house or hut” (Golding 57). This quote shows that as a sage archetype, they should have a sense of maturity in them that creates their wisdom and rationality in situations. Simon shows his maturity in a sense that he is frowning at the other boys’ immature acts of destroying
Piggy is the smartest boy on the island, and always tries to keep order and civility. He was often enforcing that when he “got the conch”(101) then he was entitled to talk. The conch is a symbol for civilization and so is Piggy. When the conch died piggy died too, along with any form of order on the island. Piggy was innovative and came up with ideas to help the boys, like when he says that he “could make a sundial, [he] could put a stick in the ground,”(64)
In the novel “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding the ultimate one responsible for the destruction of the island is Jack. In the novel Golding has wrote about how a group of british boys crashed on a plane and landed on a island where there are no adults,just little british boys stranded on a island .In the beginning one of the boys Ralph was the responsible leader where he knew what to do an how to manage. But of course there was this one cureles jealous boy that wanted to be a leader,the one in charge. Because of how ruthless and savage Jack was he took the fear that the boys had within them and used it against them to make them join his tribe which started the destruction of the island.
There’s a lot of symbolism in The Lord of the Flies, and Simon represents the religious aspect in life, for example; morals. Which means, like I stated above, that Simon tries to keep others in a good or for better words civilized society. Simon is eager and he pretends to be less than what he is and what I mean by that is he takes less credit than he should. He isn’t what one would describe as direct, but when things need to be taken care of and fixed he won’t let it slide. He’ll be upfront about it and take care of what needs to be done.
Ralph is immediately admired as a leader. Everyone but Jack and his friends vote for Ralph over Jack. Those that voted for Ralph did so because of all his proven leadership qualities. He is confident, anything but shy, strong, and he is clear that he will do anything to get them rescued including doing a lot of the dirty work himself such as hunting the beast and building all of the shelters.
Simon’s Transition from Quiet Boy to the Establishment of Empathy In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, Simon’s transition from laconic youth to the short-lived establishment of empathy creates the subtle upending of the island’s makeshift civilization. Simon is repeatedly shown to be the only boy to show compassion and direct kindness towards anyone else. The shy boy does this at personal risk to himself. The most evident of these instances is in Chapter Four after the hunters have retrieved a pig and Jack is attempting to intimidate Piggy by withholding his share.
Civilization means to be a part of a culture, to have a leader who takes power, and to be apart of orderly society. In the novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Simon is the most civilized boy on the island because he has the most positive outlook out of every boy on the island, he is insightful of what and where the beast is, and, he is the first to realize most of the problems that occur on the island. Simon has the most positive outlook out of every boy on the island. Simon insisted multiple times that the boys would get rescued, even when Ralph strongly doubted the possibility.
Jack has changed greatly, over the course of William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies. Crashing onto an island without adults and having to survive put a strain on all of the boys, but Jack’s personality altered the most due to this experience. He went from living as an ambitious choir boy, to being a vicious, brutal, beast. Many things changed Jack on the island, but most of all, he created the monster he became.
In the chaotic and violent novel, Lord of the Flies, William Golding features a group of young British boys who are stranded on an uninhabited island, with no adults among them. But the island is not as it seems and feels almost “as if you’re. being hunted” (53). One of the boys on the island is Simon, an outlier among the group who has a “coarse mop of black hair” (55) and a “pointed chin” (55). He shows kindness when the other boys show cruelty.
In the biblical text of Matthew, the messiah Jesus Christ is betrayed by his disciple Judas, and sentenced to crucifixion by the Roman people. Jesus acts as a martyr, for his death lead to the forgiveness of the sin in all people. In Lord of the Flies, Simon is perceived originally as a Christ-type figure, whose spiritual presence is so strong it is seen by the boys as “batty”. Although readers may originally believe Simon is also a martyr, his vulgar “resurrection” and and exacerbation of the boys violence indicates he does not fit the christ-figure archetype. During chapter 8, Simon speaks to the pig head left by Jack and his tribe, and realises the true beast is the evil within man.
Simon, who is always helping out Ralph and tries to show the evil which is corrupting all of the children demonstrates how people are initially good in the book Lord of The Flies by William Golding. For instance, in the meetings, Simon attempts to show his concern when, “ (He) mumble(s) confusedly, ’I don’t believe in the beast’ ‘’ (Golding 72). Even if Simon is not a great speaker puts an effort to explain how the beast might be just in their heads. Also, means that he has not been influenced because unlike most of the children did not lose his innocence. May be looked passed but, consequently, is what makes his death unnoticed by Jack’s savages.

Jack and Ralph are two characters that challenge each other for the ability to govern the other boys. Although through a democratic compromise, Ralph is chosen as chief, Jack tests Ralphs ability to lead. Throughout a series of negligence for his elected leader, Jack proves his desperation to become leader. This series includes ignoring Ralphs orders, breaking rules and forming a rival tribe.
Simon was skinny and had black hair. Simon was a loner who often experienced fainting spells. He always wander into the jungle to think by himself. He always sees beyond the surface of things, so he often thinking alone and be a loner. The other boys were indifferent towards Simon because he was not extremely social (page 38, no one be close to Simon).

Ralph leads the group of kids his age and younger on the journey of being stranded on an island with no adults. Lord of the Flies was written during the Cold War, but set during WWII. Ralph believes in civilization and that they will be saved, embraces the treatment of being told a powerful leader, and engages in low self esteem when the boys don’t enforce the rules he provides.
William Golding’s Lord of the Flies depicts aspects on what it means to be human. Being human means that you act morally and in a way that allows you to interact with others. This is not always the case in humanity, there is always an evil that lurks beneath the surface. There are conflicts that make people act in an irregular way. This novel exhibits that the human will to live and prosper can make people do inhuman things.
