Sinister

Sinister is an American horror film which is exactly what it’s title says, a movie about an evil lurking about. The movie opens up by showing a family of four standing as their heads are covered in hoods, suddenly a power-saw cuts the tree branch holding them stable and their own weight hangs them as the branch falls. Soon after the accident a crime writer whose name is Ellison Oswald ( Ethan Hawke) and his wife Tracy (Rylanche) and their two kids Trevor (Michael Hall D'Addario ) and Ashley (Clare Foley) move into the home as Ellison decides that moving into the same house will help him get more insight into the case since he believes this story will be bigger than his last big hit and answers deserve to be found.

Throughout the movie you’ll uncover that he left out one detail to his wife when they moved into that has and that was the murder incident that occurred in their backyard but it’s not long before his secret is uncovered when his kids start acting strange and drawing the horrific scenes. In all honesty what man would move in his family to a house where he knows a murder took place and knowing it can bring danger to them as it has before when they had moved just a street away from another murder home. As he looks through their attic he comes across a box of home movies and a movie player so as a curious person he begins to watch them not knowing what he had done. Each home movie starts by showing a family doing activities such as swimming in a pool, camping, sleeping, etc. but then ends with different ways of them being killed. After seeing Bughuul, Oswalt becomes concerned for his family’s safety and rushes to burn the box of home movies and packs everything to leave back to their old house, also discontinuing his book. It all seemed like there be a happy ending and honestly it would’ve not completed the film. In their previous home Oswald makes a shocking discovery when he finds the box of family movies without a burn in their attic with “extended film” and he proceeds to watch it. The films show the “missing children” killing their families before disappearing. Oswald received a phone call from the deputy informing him the horrific news that every family killed all lived in the same house where the hanging took place before they moved to new locations, which subsequently resulted in their murders. In other words, he basically informed Oswalt that he and his family were probably going to get killed and there was nothing they could do to stop it. Soon after he begins to feel weird from the coffee his daughter Ashley made him and he loses consciousness.
