Australian art is any art made in Australia or about Australia, from prehistoric times to the present. This includes Aboriginal, Colonial, Landscape, Atelier, early twentieth century painters, print makers, photographers, and sculptors influenced by European modernism, Contemporary art. Nation identity is a sense of a nation as a unified whole, as represented by distinctive traditions, culture, and language. Australian national identity is represented differently by unique artists depending on their background, knowledge and point of view based around Australia.
This is where we see the most budget cuts happening. When budget cuts happen, the first programs to go are usually the art programs. It's sad because art programs tend to be the most therapeutic for children. This was a powerful essay. It really made me stop and think about how many children in our society rely on the stability of school.

Dean explores the idea that the word “art” is used far too often and too habitually, and that as we study the non-Western cultures we need to use much more discretion regarding what we call the different pieces of their culture.
