The Red Tent is a book by Anita Diamant where she describes life as seen through the eyes of Dinah, a daughter among eleven brothers. We see the story through the eyes of Dinah. At a first glance, a show with such an incredibly diverse cast could not possibly display any set stereotypes. Ordinary People Term Essay After reading the book; Ordinary People and learning about all of the characters, I’d say I most closely resemble Conrad Jarrett. Conrad has experienced a lot and has faded relationships with people he used to have close relationships with. He lost his brother, tried to commit suicide, he has also been in and out of hospitals. A couple of these ways are similar to me.
Flagg’s character Evelyn Couch is seen as a believable character, because the reader gets a bit of background on who she is and why she goes to the nursing home. In the novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, Evelyn is described as a “forty-eight year old . . . [who] had gotten lost somewhere along the way” (37). After her children left to college Evelyn felt as if she did not know what to do with her life anymore, because before it revolved around her family and taking care of each one of them. In the late 1980’s women began to have more job opportunities; however, in Evelyn’s case she was already too old to go out and work for a company without having went to college.
Both parts of this clip would best be classified as using audiovisual humor as it uses a combination of visual and aural features. In the first part of the clip [proposal], there is an incongruous mismatch and irony that is concurrent, as we can see Joel with chocolates and flowers calling out to his girlfriend, but we also hear and later see that she is sleeping with someone else. The humor in both parts of the clip is self-contained, as you do not need to have knowledge of the other parts of the movie narrative to understand that he was going to propose, that his girlfriend is cheating on him, and that is he wandering the streets and at a bar because of this. The “you can say it again”/”tell me about it” joke is also self-contained as they do not require prior knowledge to understand. This joke is also
