According to the Michael Kolkind in the essay History 489 at Berkeley the conflict over people’s park took place. According to the author it was a small space took by the local activist from the university of Berkley which failed to improve it after “demolish some houses”(5). According to the author they created a space that would bring more people to join their causes. The author describes this action the “beginning of the end of the student movement”. For the extremist activists it was a military battle against the citizen that they were supposed to defend.
History - the study of past events, particularly in human affairs. Asking me to write about the History of Flagger Force is like asking me to write my autobiography. I say this because I am officially the longest tenured operations employee in King of Prussia. Much like we say every member of our field staff remembers their first week on the job, I remember my first week on the job also.
A person’s relationship with history is very much like their relationship with brussel sprouts: you either love ‘em or you hate ‘em, with most people identifying with the latter. As we are told countless times, history is important because if we forget it, we are doomed to repeat it. It is a logical claim, for how can someone learn and move forward if they do not reflect and fix their mistakes? History, however, has a tendency to be boring, a never-ending waterfall of dates and names that can only be learned through mind-numbing memorization. Is this truly the only way, however?
History helps us understand our past and detremine the future. It lets us know why our society is how it is today. How the world use to be compared to now, how lucky we are compared to way back when. The past causes the present, so the future. Hisotry is in every little thing you can think of.

The historians give the reader places to look for more information, as well as see their thought process through footnotes and prefaces, and the reader will, hopefully, use that to probe their own thinking and join in a considerable number of scholars, students, and curious intellects who continue to question these trials
Historiography is the study of how history is written and the different perspectives of the past provided by different historians. Revolutions and wars are main events that historians love to pick apart due to so many different point of views or conclusions that they can assume. The Loyalists position on the revolution was, “...more sympathetic to Britain and more antagonistic to those responsible for the revolution” (American Revolution Historiography). Whig historians on the other hand, saw the revolution as a journey of progress and advancement. The Progressives, a new breed of historians, said that the revolution was based by economic factors and self interest.
Usually the information conversed in history classes reflect the building blocks of what is occurring in our society and world of today. As the world changes around us, our picture frame in history changes as well. “It’s written and rewritten in each generation. The events of the present, of the contemporary age, always help us reframe the events of the past. And the events of the past always help us to reframe the age we’re living in.
Courtney Lachney The Progressive Era Critical Thinking Activity Essay Rubric History shows how humans grew. It shows where we all originated from and how we made up our laws and such. History has brought about a lot of change. There are so many different ideals and beliefs that originated in the past. There were so many wars and killing sover things that were sometimes for the worst.
What Defines History? History is what makes what we are today, without history the world would be a different place to everyone everywhere. If there was no history, we would have to make up stories of what happened in the past. I agree with the quote “history is written by the winners” (Alex Haley) because history plays a big role with all the past explorers and what they have done.
History does not always convey the absolute truth. It offers only one side of the story. The strong and powerful voices always drown out the sounds of the weak and beaten. The winner’s word will always be taken over the loser’s. The content that lies within the textbooks was not written by the defeated.
History is a novel idea that has been a continuous idea throughout our time in class. We have gone over what history means to us, the students; as well as the authors and filmmakers we have studied. For me, before this class, History merely meant what we
Historians do their best to figure out what to add and what to keep in them. History is immense and is hard to summarize in just one book. This leads to a lot of important things being left out, but it's not just the historians that have a say. The parents of the children have a say as well and they can be very critical of what gets added and what doesn't. Most parents wouldn't want something such as Tills murder to be explained in such detail to their children.
Trouillot helps us grasp the idea that it is important to know that the most honest historians will try to tell the story as accurately as possible from the data. At the same time, many parts of the past get “silenced”, being forgotten about, pushed aside or passed over. Trouillot gives beneficial information that can be applied to our own studies about how this selective “silencing”
