Carey begins his article by stating, “continuing education isn’t optional for meeting and event planners. It’s a necessity.” (Carey, 2016, p. 26) The reason for this need in continual education is because of how much money and time is invested into the work that planners do. (Carey, 2016, p. 26) Corporations depend on the planner they hired to deliver top quality work and if a planner fails there is a lot at stake for the company. The best way to learn about upcoming changes is to speak to an industry professional in person, however there are many online options including taking classes and connecting through LinkedIn or Google-plus. (Carey, 2016, p. 26) I agree that the industry always changes and as new information comes out we race to understand them. We as a species constantly change our habits and create new technology; therefore no one industry will ever be constant.
