In America smoking is not only a popular epidemic, it is also addictive, pricey, and dangerous habit. Many teens today have taken on smoking as a regular pass time, some teens and young adults can smoke up to a whole pack of cigarettes a day, which is extremely dangerous to ones health and also dangerous to your wallet, as the cigarettes can be genuinely expensive. By examining how addictive, expensive, and dangerous smoking cigarettes can be, it is clear that cigarettes should not only be illegal, but the production of cigarettes should be stopped indefinitely.

Most people will grab a cigarette when they get stressed out, whether your stressed about personal problems or more simple subjects such as your job, smokers seem to reach for the quick and simple method for relieving the stress, a cigarette.(Why is it so hard to quit?) “Cigarette smoking is a complex behaviour that over time becomes powerfully compulsive. Nicotine causes changes in the structure and function of the brain producing both positive experiences such as feelings of arousal, relaxation, and improved concentration and negative withdrawal symptoms such as nervousness, restlessness, irritability, anxiety and impaired concentration. It is difficult to separate the positive effect of nicotine from the relief of negative withdrawal symptoms.” (Smoking is Addictive). There is many options you can try to avoid smoking such as, stay away from people that smoke, washing all your clothes, bedding, and other items can contain the smell of cigarette smoke, to try to avoid any thought of cigarettes in general. Most people chew gum or keep hard candies with them, so instead of having a cigarette in their mouths they have the gum or candy in there mouths to try and keep their minds off cigarettes. Drinking lots of water can also help flush some of the nicotine, which causes you to want more cigarettes, out of your system to try and cut down on the urge of wanting a
