Comparing and contrasting generations against each other is a snapshot of their environment. The different names of the generations like Veterans, Baby Boomers and generation X are just stereotypes of people. People are a product of their environment. Things that are going to be comparing and contrasting the generations are their work ethic, music, clothing/style, and economy. The youth of the time was trying to find a way to stick it to the man one way or another. The veteran’s generation was the generation between WW1 and WW2 they were born before 1945. Men and women worked for the war and they were very hard working, didn’t quit jobs, and found multiple ways to use things and saved everything due to surviving their depression. Due to starting families later in life, they averaged four kids. The economy was booming so people traveled, bought things, and lived in the moment, instead of planning for the future lived in the now. Education was a major focus in their lives and careers. Due to the numbers and work force of the baby boomers had really caused problems for the economy in the 80s and 90s. The baby boomers put work first over their family. To the baby boomers, money, careers, was very important to them because they seen their parents sacrifice to make others successful. They took risk in business and personnel life. This caused more to get divorced and pulled away from the church due to their desire to express their freedom and different point of views. They created the disco genre. Their hair was grown out longer just to define their parent’s image of success. Music was louder and bolder than the previous generation. It went from Elvis Presley died of a heart attack (drug overdose) to people doing drugs and drinking on stager with no shame. Technology was upgraded, from touch phones to black and white television to color vision. Also people were more free and willing to try new/different clothing styles. Less than half of the baby boomers. They were raised by the baby boomers, who put their careers first and so their children had to become more self-efficient at an earlier age. This generation was raised by single moms because of the importance of careers and self by the baby boomers. This generation is about everything being bigger/bolder and they started to really fall in love with technology to make their lives better. 100 percent okay with change and need for feedback and acceptance from authority. They would compete with the each other for having the newest and best toys. This generation had the bigger hair, better music, and bigger TVs. So when the economy fell, this generation who lived way beyond their means had to start moving back home and switched the mind set to smaller and more efficient ways of doing things. All jobs were harder to come by so people looked to military. They also had less kids and more focus on family. They did not trust people, maybe because they were lied to by the parents so much growing up. Dada said I been there on the weekend and something would come up. Baby boomers put career and jobs
