The older generation that called Baby Boomers has completely different view on life values than the current generation. The baby-boomers are people who were born in 50-70's; they are confident, independent, and self-reliant; they are people with high moral values. This generation grew up in an era of reform, of development economy, of great opportunities, in period of intensive development American culture, and in era of "The Beatles" and "Scorpions". They believe they can change the world. When comparing the society in the past and contemporary society, it’s a good way to compering music and musical lyrics then and now because music is a reflection of human reality. Mary Eberstadt explains the changes in musical lyric as a result of changes in society. First at all, lyrics were censored, without swearing and presentation of drugs, violence, abuse, suicide, misogyny. For example, the German rock band "Scorpions" was formed in 1965 in Hanover by Rudolf Schenker, but later their musical style has ranged from hard rock to heavy metal. You cannot find any bed words or swearing in their songs. In the song "Living For Tomorrow," they sang about live, good changes, being better, "Let's make this word / A better place to live / Start to take / Start to give." The society was different; people had strong moral family values; the American economy was strong; business and industry was profitable; and the unemployment levels were very low. In that time, American society consisted of nuclear families with working fathers and stay-at-home mothers. That gave more opportunity for parents to be closer with children, better understand them.
