There are countless social effects of World War I in France and Great Britain and the ordinary people lived in various ways during and after the war. France and Great Britain–during the war–were both allies who were against the central powers of Germany, Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire, which is now [present-day] Turkey. Adding to this, the brutal war in both of these countries, changed the way individuals lived compared to during the war and it phased numerous social effects that had a lasting impact in these two countries which furthermore, influenced Europe [as a whole]. According to the Article, “Immigrant Workers in France during World War I” it states, “[Even though] the changes in both of these countries had similarities and differences, but they both provided these countries with a boost in modernization” (Horne 8). During this time, however, there were millions of individuals and men that lost their homes and had to migrate to a different part of the continent or even a different part of the world. There were various aspects that took shape in Great Britain and France during and after World War I which changed how people lived but one of the most predominant social effects is immigration.
