My issue analysis will explore the topic of the effect of social media on people's lives, mainly teenagers. I will focus on the impact social media has on our mental health, using resources that bring forth arguments that show both the positive and negative sides of social media. There are different segments of social media that connect to the mental health of teenagers. Social media allows today’s youth to be in touch with almost anyone/ anything in the world. For this reason, it is important that we understand the affects it has on our mental health. This source supports both side of the issue, by providing details about the negative and positive impacts on social media. This source also brings forth information about being addicted to social media which contributes to the negative side of social media and mental health. While this article explains both sides, it also highlights how important this issue is by describing potential future research that will be done concerning social media and mental health. This source is credible because the author has published many peer reviewed articles focusing on behavior.

I plan to use this article to show the importance of social media and mental health. This article includes many explanations of depression and social media, specifically Facebook. I will use the explanations to further explain examples of mental health and social media.
