After reviewing tons of application, I have one thing clear they all ask, what is your race and, what is your gender. These forms of question help the interviewer or the one who reads the application know a little more of who is the person. In reality these questions are used in society to determine one’s, social location. The definition of Social location is basically your status in society and it is determined by race, gender, and class. While these are important to shape one’s social location they do not provide a full description of one’s life. In order to have a fuller description of one’s social location their background and family is equally important. As we know where we come from shapes our mind and who we are. For instance, I work amongst the rich, the wealthy, the poor and the moderate and I have learned that all of these different classes lead individuals to look at things in a different manner. For example, when you apply to a high standard career, you might hand in the application and think if it’s for me they will call me, while society pushes you in other direction. Society sets you to think that if you don’t fight for that job and have the best skills you won’t get hired. Therefore society, has created a competition amongst us is more like first come first served, the best gets the best and if you do not have what it takes then strike out. Due to this we all strive to have the highest degrees, or best qualification even do other stuff to get what you want. Competition is good in a way and bad in another, because society doesn 't set your mind to settle for less, but have you ever thought when is it enough.
In conclusion, I think that race, gender, and class can partially determine a person, however, does not determine one 's personal life or social location. The book Class Race Gender Crime (2015) states, “A person may be white, but multi billionaires are different from those considered white trash.” In other words, race alone cannot define one’s social location because their are other factors that differentiate the two individuals and this is why other factors should be included in order to define one’s social
