The primate freedom organization protects primates from inhuman experimentation in hopes to stop animal experimentation. They also donate Primate Freedom Tags and provide research to other organizations. Finally, they write articles for campus publications, foster community, and campus-based Primate Freedom Projects, and work to connect all primate freedom efforts
The article, “Of Primates and Personhood: Will According Rights and “Dignity” to Nonhuman Organisms Halt Research?” by Ed Yong is trying to convince the reader to see a different side to primates. The Great Ape Project set legal rights for chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, and orangutan. United Kingdom and New Zealand protect great apes from experimentation. For the Great Ape Project they are basically setting laws and higher standards for primates to me experimented on or held captive.
Chimpanzee vs. Baboons Have you ever wondered which primates roam around in the wilderness? Well two of the most common animals are chimpanzees and baboons. These animals are very alike but they are also very different. Chimpanzees and baboons look nothing alike, so they don 't have any common traits.
Everyone wants to gain and feel a sense of self-confidence, but newly formed confidence may be transformed into a self-harming arrogance; An underlying theme of hubris is presented through the decisions and consequences the characters of Jeff Strand’s short story “Specimen 313” and W.W Jacobs’ short story “The Monkey’s Paw” face. Doctor Prethorius, portrayed in “Specimen 313,” and Mr., Mrs., and Hubert White presented in “The Monkey’s Paw” receive an opportunity that presents a chance for a boost in power which quickly creates a feeling of hubris that overcomes the characters from both stories. The resources and knowledge the doctor possesses along with the White family’s ability to have its every wish granted both become a source of dangerous
I am looking forward to learn more about the perspectives and everything else the class has to offer. It’s definitely early in the semester and I am sure I will have a lot more to reflect on in the
In Penang Island, there are two diurnal primate species, the long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis) and the dusky leaf monkey (Trachypethicus obscurus). Both of these species are Old World Monkeys. The long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis), which is also known as crab-eating macaque is widely distributed in tropical mainland and insular Southeast Asia (Fooden 1995), belongs to Cercopithecinae family. They can be found in a wide variety of habitats such as mangrove forests, primary and secondary forests, freshwater swamps, peat swamps. They can even be found in agriculture areas and villages that are near the forests, national parks, recreational parks, tourist attractions.
Hearing about what the class will be about I realize that I will need to put a lot of time and effort into that class.
Primatology has showed humans that although we are still the most advanced species, there is not as big of a gap as what has previously been thought. There are a lot of similarities, not only biologically but also culturally, between humans and other primates. Research and studies have shown that primates live in community with each other very similar to humans. Their community may not be as complex as ours, but it is similar all the same. Their communities even contain hierarchies and social groups.
The theory of mind is the ability to use one’s brain to have the capacity to assign mental states to others in order to grasp their perceptions and ideas. It is the action and cognitive ability that are largely based on brain size and cognition. Research has suggested (with bias) that the theory of mind can only be found in humans because humans have relatively large brain sizes and have complex cognitive abilities. Other research has also suggested that the theory of mind only relates to social emotional intelligence, which can be found in humans but also in other primates. Humans are not the only primates that have a theory of mind; other non-human primates are able to use their cognitive abilities and social skills to fulfill tasks and survive.
In the sixth grade, I took a test to see if I was left- or right-brained. To my elementary eyes, the result of that quiz would be the truth from on high—a resolute word that would define the man to come as either analytic or artistic. Unfortunately, the oracle I sought gave me a perplexing answer. Much to my disbelief, my tallied score yielded a perfect split down the middle. Was I mentally ambidextrous or mentally challenged?

Animals and humans share more in common than you think. Although we don't necessarily look the same, we share the same emotions. Including happiness, sadness and many other traits. Other than emotions animals can act similar to humans as well. For example, animals may show that their scared by hiding or running away just like humans.
The term attribution is defined by “the process by which people explain why somebody did something” (Fiske, 2014, p. 98). Comprehending an individual behavior is not an easy task because Crisp and Turner (2010) argue In Essential social psychology the “attribution is less about facts and more about understanding how to apply the model’s rules to everyday social behavior” (Crisp and Turner, 2010, p. 43). Researchers used what so called “the locus of causality”, which are different types of attribution people used to expound the behavior of others (Crisp and Turner, 2010). These models are grounded on two types of attribution: the internal and the external.
Taking this class has had a profound impact on me. I have learned how to properly study for a college class. Also, I learned how to effectively communicate and reach out to my professor. This was my first college course which gave me a learning experience about psychology and myself as a student. I have learned how to manage my time, study in ways that are better for me, focus on the task in front of me, and reaching out and taking opportunities.
Understanding other people’s behavior and thinking is the first benefit of taking Psychology. With this course, you can learn how to understand a person’s behavior. If
