As humans age, their lives change. In an every-day life, we encounter adolescents who cannot wait to begin college so that they can have their freedom. Meanwhile, some older adults are losing their ability to explore life around them. As one’s loses independence, stubborn, shorter temperance usually comes along. Many diseases like dementia, Alzheimer disease and others in seniors start with a little bit of memory loss. Later in life, losing their independence become inescapable. A family member or a spouse will now take the wheel. While there can be a group with a lack of Instrumental of Activities of Daily Living and others with only the Activities of Daily Living, they are all in need of caregivers. When taking care by family caregivers, the elderly tend to have a higher life expectancy rather than the people in a nursing home. A family with a high economic status tend to be less likely in need with their functional activities of daily living. They have fewer IADLs and ADLs compared to a low-income family. In a study done, researchers found that socioeconomic and health have a high correlation. Low-income countries and women tend to have a higher rates of disability (Cavanaugh, Blanchard-Fields, 2015). A family with little income does not have many advantages like a family with a good socioeconomic.
