h I have observed many socioeconomic inequalities from my community site. The children have experienced long times of homelessness, since that is what is required to stay at Avalon. This has a large effect on the children in all aspects of life, the biggest one being their education. The children are farther behind in their education than others in their age group, since they had to go through such hard times, and it caused some students to be behind in their academics. Even when the children have access to a stable home, it can still get in the way of their academics. It has been around for thousands of years. Those that have power are afraid of someone taking that power away from them, and they do not like feeling inferior to others since they have never experienced that. It is not right for people to think like that, and if there is to be further progress, then people will have to set aside their differences and come together. People need to stop thinking of others as different because of their income, race and such because in the end we are all human beings. The system of class differences should be changed because it is only hurting people, and that everyone could benefit from the change. More people could receive a good education and be raised in a good, stable home environment and much more. In Lareau, she brings up how White and African American middle-class children were starting to think of themselves as entitled to more things than other like opportunities and attention (Lareau, 352). It is not wrong for families to provide the best they can for their families, but it does not make them better than others, and deserving of more opportunities. I believe that if people keep believing in their entitlement then there will not be a big change in class difference, because they will feel as if something is being taken away from them. When politicians are running campaigns, they get paid by the people with money to put into it, and when they win the election they will help those that helped get them into office. When laws are people passed that can benefit those with money, then they will help pass those laws to continue getting support from those with money. It keeps hurting those who actually need someone to make the laws that will bring more money to those that need it and need help to improve their lives.
