Cynthia Castillo Paper#1 Sociology V.S Other Sciences (Topic #1) I believe sociology is a type of science because science is based on what human nature does to understand what purpose the environment in which we live in comes together with the people who exist in that environmental situation. Sociology in relationship to other sciences is very much connected in many forms. The people who analyze different behaviors among a wide variety animals and plants in their environment are Ecologist. Ecologists are similar to sociologist because they are the ones who study and examine humans and how they interact with other humans as well as how they interact in different environments. This theory deals with the interaction between people within the society that they live in. This theory also deals with how the society communicated within the society itself. Furthermore, there are differences among these three major sociological perspectives. When it comes to explain the differences of structural functionalism, conflict theory and symbolic interaction, and structural functionalism it all depends on each individual function within a group. Structural function is when one function has a problem the entire group suffers. In Conflict theory each person has to fight or compete with scarce resources, which converts to battles or wars in order to survive. Symbolic interactionism is how the group interacts and communicates with each other to allow them to express the feelings or beliefs among themselves and to also let other people know these feelings or beliefs by protesting the point of view. People are always striving to make sense of their surroundings and use symbols such as gestures, sign, objects, signals, and words.
