Somalia pirates and there influence on shipping trade

Introduction: In this chapter we will be focusing on topics like the background study of the pirates of Somalia, their history, the problems faced by the seafarer and the companies including the counter measures taken by the shipping companies in ensuring safety of the crew, ship and also the cargo for the ships, sailing in and around the piracy areas. We will also explain about the research objective, the current situation faced by the seafarers, the scope and the limitation of our study.

Due to hiring of the armed guards and other issues of piracy the coast for the ship companies have increased to 6.6 TO 6.9 billion us dollars per year.
From the year 2013 less piracy attacks have been reported at IMB piracy report center

Companies have been spending 8 or 9, or close to $10 million dollars on safeguarding their ship as per the report by marine security review (published on June 6 2012 by marke lowe). Also the company has been training the crew by conducting drills on-board. Companies have also fitted special steel door in some of the ships which is known as the citadel which basically acts as an hiding place for the crew in case of an piracy situation until the rescue team arrives.
All of this solutions have helped reduction of the piracy but still there is loss of time which has a bad impression on the economy as well as has a psychological effect on the crew as they had to go through a piracy situation.
The piracy is all over the world but Somalia is the most dangerous and the most active rejoin then the other regions. These pirates usually most of the time attack ships with low speed and less freeboard (height of ships deck above waterline) which are mostly
