After the Persian war and having spent money for the Delian League, the individuals living in ancient Greece must have found themselves hoping for a better future. The Periclean Building Program was introduced by Pericles in hopes of beautifying Athens, building temples, and providing free theater. While this has its benefits, there were some drawbacks to this program such as using the money meant to defend the city-states in the Delian League. The debate groups were able to use both pros and cons to argue the future of their city states. While facing the audience the participants of the debate used two very effective ways to sway the opinions of the audience.
Freedom Summer, or the Mississippi Summer Project, was a volunteer campaign launched in June 1964 to attempt to register as many African-American voters as possible in Mississippi, which had historically excluded most blacks from voting. The project also set up dozens of Freedom Schools throughout Mississippi to aid the local black population. The projects leadership and funding came from the SNCC and COFO, along with hundreds of white college students in the north. In 1963, the SNCC organized a mock vote for blacks, which gave them a chance to prove they were capable of understanding politics. The civil rights activists from both organizations and the white volunteers from the north faced many challenges during the campaign.

In the Greek literary work Apology written by Plato, Socrates was convicted for refusing to recognize the gods recognized by the state, introducing new divinities and corrupting the youth. It is believed by many critics that Socrates knew he was going to be sentenced to death so, he was able to use his defense as an opportunity to clear his reputation, confront his accusers, but most significantly instruct the Athenians. He wanted them to look into themselves and seek virtue and wisdom before looking into personal interests. Although at times there may have been youth following him as he went out to question others, they simply were just there to listen. In the event that the youth may have come up with ideas of their own based off of Socrates’s conversations they heard, that is not direct teaching from Socrates. This is like when a parent tells their child not to touch a hot stove, yet the kid goes and touches it anyway. Children have a mind of their own regardless of what they have been told is right or wrong.
My Practice Currently, a substitute teacher I teach five to thirteen year old students with and without special educational needs.
