Within the countries of Africa there is a food called sorghum. Sorghum is a food which is consumed through wet cooking process or baked into bread. The problem with sorghum is it lack nutrients the populations need such as iron, vitamins, zinc, and lysine and it is also difficult for them to ingest (Mastandrea, A., 2009). This food does not help the population with nourishment because of the lack of nutrients it has. The Africa Biofortified Sorghum Project Consortium is a project which is trying to improve the nutritional value of sorghum to have the nutrition of the country and fight the malnutrition which is occurring within the population (Mastandrea, A., 2009). This project plans to give these more nutritional seeds to the areas of Africa which need them most. The areas within Africa who do not have easy access to fortified or processed foods. There were many quintessential partners involved in delivery of the ABS program including experts in technology, management and coordination, product, and organizations that helped create the perfect environment (Biosorghum.org, 2010). The first team was a group of scientists that developed work in areas such as technology while the second team was called the Product Development group. The Product Development group is made up of many different groups that essentially focused on selecting genes and breeding. Lastly, was a team that focused strictly on the business, property management, development and deployment of the African Biofortified Sorghum Project.
