Katniss was always being told by the capital what to do.

Americans today tend to believe that people often conform from a desire for security within a group—typically a group of a similar age, culture, religion, or educational status. I’ve always believed that teenagers would want to fit in with others around them. In addition, while they raely admit as much, teenagers often take for granted is being themselves. American teens My life compared to the Americans in the documentary is totally reversed compared to theirs. They wouldn’t say that I wasn’t special just because my grades were above average but not #topoftheclass grades, they would instead encourage me to try harder in a good way I think. Then the Americans always have a pressure built up on them, for if they don’t get through high school and don 't get into college they would be nobodies and society would think of them as losers and failures.

The perception of age has changed greatly in American culture, a sharp contrast to the ever-evolving meaning of adulthood and maturity for each following generation. Age, like many intangible concepts in America, is fetishized to an idealistic degree. The old yearn for their youth. The young scramble for their age.
