Question 1: Describe the IT governance system currently in place at the University of the Southeast using both decision rights and structure as the bases of governance.
Framework: The Framework developed by Peter Weill. Jeanne can be used by the southeast university for its “IT governance framework”.
Analysis and Implementation: IT governance is important in the decision rights and for accountability. This framework also encourages behavior in IT that are more desirable. This framework is used for both the decision rights as well as for the accountability. In large universities, many decision rights with the large range of issues were allocated to the colleges and they had its own server and TSD (technology support department). The Southeast University also had its own TSD and server. The directors and administration were involved in the decision making, but for the decisions about the IT, the directors had given the power to the CIO and IT management. Sometimes the Information system enables the centralized decision that gathered from the all departments. The main decision made by the ICO and sometimes the directors and board of directors also involved, shows the structure of governance in Southeast University. The governance is not a concern to what decisions are made, it is about who is making the decisions.
Question 2: The CIO wants to implement a centralized IT governance system. As demonstrated by the case above what? What are the disadvantages?
Framework: The IT centralized architecture can be used by the southeast university.
