The feeling of treading new lands, that is what the first Europeans experienced. When Christopher Columbus returned to Spain is when the age of exploration truly began. The Spanish conquistadors were the first of the European explorers whom came to the Americas. There were four reasons why they decided to start exploring the new world. These reasons include; the willingness to learn, religion, economics, and politics. First, the conquistadors had the willingness to learn. Whether it was a new culture, or a new language. Considering that the age exploration fallowed the Renaissance, which sparked a yearning for knowledge. This is what gave the conquistadors the willingness to learn. They wanted to conquer new lands, in order to tighten there grasp on the world. They also wanted to establish colonies in the Americas. So that they could obtain more luxurious with ease. Because of these reason both Portugal, and Spain became two of the greatest world powers of the sixteenth century. All four of these motive are equally important. On account that they all intertwine with each other, one can not occur without the other. For example the economic motive could not happen without the willingness. Without the willingness to learn Europe would not have know about the Americas. Another example would be religion motive, and the political motive. Because both religion, and politics both played an equal roll during this time. Any European monarch did not what to anger the Catholic Church in fear of evoking the wrath of God. All of these motives are equally important for the Age of Exploration. In conclusion, the four motivations of exploration include; the willingness to learn, religion, economics, and politics. These four motivations for exploring the new world are all equally important. Because they all come together for one desire to explore a new land.
