The responsibilities of an employer and employee under health and safety legislation, was founded in 1974. Act 1974 is a law made to secure the health, safety, wellbeing of people at work and to prevent unnecessary risks. An employer’s responsibilities under health and safety legislation, requires the employer to be responsible for the health and safety of any person in their premises, which includes employees, customers, suppliers and the public. Employers should hire a certified person in charge of health and safety, however in small businesses that person is usually the owner or a trusted member of staff.
The Unnatural Causes: Place Matters video, explains how environmental factors impact the health and lifespan of an individual. Additionally, the video also gives some history on how disadvantaged neighborhoods were created through government policies that favored Caucasian families. Also, the video focuses on Richmond, a disadvantaged city in California, and the detrimental health of its community members. Lastly, the video focuses on an improved and former disadvantaged neighborhood called High Point located in Seattle, Washington.
In the book, Prisoners of Geography Ten Maps that Explain Everything About the World, Tim Marshall states Geography influences countries interactions with one another. The author highlights how countries defend and trade based on their geography. In addition, the book states the importance of not making artificial borders. Geography can create buffers protecting a country, however, it can also create a weakness allowing an invasion. Similarly, trade is affected by geography.

A challenge Patrick may face may be awareness and knowledge, he may face this as well as others. Patrick may be aware that he has HIV however he may not be aware how much this will effect him and he may not be aware how to deal with it as he may lack the knowledge. This defines the complex and typically unseen relationship between political and physical geography, “Geography is like a tree which early divides into two great branches, whose twigs may none the less be inextricably interwoven.” (Mackinder 159). After Mackinder makes an interesting claim about how the rivalry between physical geographers and geologists are perceived.

I am studying my house with some of the five themes of geography. These themes are location; physical and human characteristics; interaction of people and the environment; movement of people, goods, and ideas, and regions found in a geographic area. I will use location, physical and human characteristics, and interaction of people and the environment. Each theme is applied when studying a location. The first theme I will use is location.
Boundaries should be seen as being statements about who a person is, about what they would like and want. They are about the person and each family member needs to be able to say what they want in regard to physical boundaries and these should be respected. My picture describes geography because geography is a subject that studies the earth’s surface and the processes that shape it and the relationships between humans and physical environment. My picture shows a place on the surface of the earth, in the picture you can also see that the surroundings are unlike than the focus of the picture (the oasis), so it shows you that there is some type of natural processes/changes happening. And also, oasis can be man made, so the picture can show if men have made it, or if it has been made by natural changes. In brief, my picture shows the oasis of the Libyan Desert. It is unlike its environment because of the underground rivers, natural processes, or sometime man made wells.
Narrative point of view can express a different perspective to the reader by presenting experience, voice, and setting. Perspective is a particular way or attitude of considering events, by whatever character’s point of view the narrator takes. A character’s background and experiences in their life is a key to help the reader relate to the character. Culture may provide more insight about the circumstances, and can change a reader’s perspective, as well as the voice of the narrator - sophisticated or naive.
There is an assortment of social factors that make up a person’s social location. They bring to bear an effect on every person’s development as an individual. Social location can be defined as the groups people belong to because of their place or position in society. The three factors that have contributed the most to my social location are my social class, race, and gender. These things have shaped my life experiences in the United States.

This novel expands on the economic, cultural, physical, and political geography of our nation. De Blij outlines on the importance of geographic thought by focusing on climate change, terrorism, the rise of states, and development in Africa.. I believe that while geography has proven to make a noticeable difference in the knowledge of our vast world, it will require an extensive amount of effort in order to make geography known.
Physical geographers apply the positivist approach in trying to understand the physical world. Bennett defines positivism as “a philosophy of meaning, of what you say that something is true, when you offer it as something which others must also accept because it is, according to some allegedly neutral standard true” (2009, 310). In this paper the way in which geographers use the positivist theory to understand the physical world will be discussed along with the advantages and limitations of using this method. There are a host of factors involved in the positivistic approach to physical geography. Physical geography is viewed by many as being hands on work with less theory.
