“'Speciesism' is the idea that being human is a good enough reason for human animals to have greater moral rights than non-human animals” ("The Ethics of Speciesism"). When I think of discrimination towards animals there are many examples that come to my mind such as dogfighting, the circus, the zoo, seaworld, hunting, poaching, factory farming, and animal testing. Families go to the circus, the zoo, seaworld and out on hunting trips to spend time with each other and have quality bonding time, while us humans are having a good time the animals are having a terrible time. “A child and a dog are trapped in a fire, you can only save one. Which will you choose to save” (“The Ethics of Speciesism”). I don’t think any human would have to think about …show more content…

The tanks which animals live in at aquariums are kept clean by chemicals with mysterious side effects. When an orca or dolphin is captured the whole pod is disrupted. Two regular teaching techniques include taking away food and separating the animal. Seaworld is a sensitive topic for me, I believe the animals belong in the wild and should not be used for entertainment. Orcas spend most of their time at seaworld floating in the water. The tanks are not deep enough to protect the animals from harsh sunlight so they get sunburns, they cover those sunburns with zinc oxide. The thing is they could have applied zinc oxide before the ocra got a sunburn, but the orcas almost always already have the sunburn when the zinc oxide is applied. Currently 5 of the orcas at seaworld were kidnapped. One named tilikum was taken from the ocean for entertainment not at all having to do with him being injured. Shamus mother was shot and killed for trying to save her when she was captured. A man who worked for seaworld who was hired to find orcas hired divers to open 4 orcas fill them up with rocks, tie anchors to their tails and drop them into the ocean so they sink to the bottom and never get discovered. Trainers trained their male orcas to float on their backs so they can masturbate the orca for sperm. More than 100 orca aggression incidents have happened at seaworld. …show more content…

Africa has been the home to many different animals, but people are ruining the animal's sense of safety. Numerous creatures are close to extinction because poaching is happening. “Black Rhino: Population down 97.6% since 1960. Mountain Gorilla: Fewer than 900 remain. African Elephant: Up to 35,00 killed last year. Lion: 85% of historic range lost. Grevy’s Zebra: Approximately 2,000 remain.”(“But illegal poaching might destroy it forever”). The animals that are being killed are usually only killed for one body part, sometimes they occasionally kill the animal for more than one body part but most of the time they kill for tusks, bones or fur they are usually sold and sold for large amounts of money which is illegal. Many people believe a rhino's horn cures hangover, fevers and even cancer but none of those have ever been proven. A pound of gold is sold for 22,000, and a rhino horn is sold for 30,000 for a
