Everybody in this room, has contributed to Animal Cruelty…
Every day in Australia animals are beaten, neglected and are forced to struggle to survive. Left in unsanitary conditions with no food or water, they have little hope as they live out their days without the essential sunlight and room they need and desire.
Most of us think of animal cruelty as just ‘deliberately’ being mean to animals, but It’s much more than that… I’m not saying you are beating or starving your dog or cat – ‘animal cruelty’ can be much more subtle…
Imagine if these picture is how you lived your life every day until you died. Being used for experiments under no anaesthetic. Being able to feel every inch of pain for hours on end.
Everyone is aware of animal testing, where animals are subjected to experiments that can include everything from testing new drugs, burning skin, causing brain damage, implanting electrodes into the brain, blinding, and other painful and invasive procedures. Over the last 30 years during journeys across the world 2.5 million have died due to the harsh conditions that these animals have had to endure on the ship. Australia is world leader in export of beef, dairy cattle, sheep and goats. Then I thought why do we have to have live exports, why can’t we kill them ethically over here in Australia and export the meat. I discovered the reason that we don’t do this and we put them on a crowded and unhygienic ship is because some countries have reasons (e.g. religious) to not stun the animals before slitting their throat and letting them bleed. Why are we as Australians leading these helpless animals to their version of hell? We need to be aware of the issue so we can make an informed decision, and not play a part in Animal Cruelty. I’m not saying that we should stop all Live Exports but we should do everything we can to reduce the amount of Animal Cruelty during the
