Gun control has been an issue of importance for many years. Gun owners who obey the law should not be restricted from purchasing, or waiting more than a few days to get their firearm. I do agree that background checks should be done before purchasing a firearm, along with smaller mental health tests. People are being irrational by thinking that if guns are pushed back, or completely outlawed, no one will get hurt. This is only going to lead to more gun smuggling in the United States. This is usually only in developing countries but this has spread into the United States. We need legal arms to protect ourselves. An argument from the other side is, why not just hire more police officers to help us be more safe and secure. This isn’t really solving the problem, because the police response time isn’t really fast enough in life or death situations. If more officers are on patrol they still can’t be everywhere at any given time. This is also a waste of taxpayer money because that money can be used somewhere else, because this issue can be easily solved with less gun control. The words stop or I’ll shoot are very powerful words against criminals caught in the act of assault, battery, or theft. My proposal, isn’t to give more opportunities to rapists, murderers, or thieves. Every citizen should be safe from harm, or those who do harm. When the police can’t respond, we together as people stand, because united we
