Have you ever watched YouTube videos where you see football players getting blows to the head while playing the game? Imagine that boy getting repetitive head traumas being your son. Football has been around for centuries and there has always been a big number of concussions in relation to this sport. An estimated 1.6-3.8 million sports-related concussions occur in the United States each year. Nearly 45 percent of the players reporting to have a concussion, said to have concussion-like symptoms. 16.9 percent confirmed that they had a concussion. There are consequences when playing sports as much as there are benefits. I would let my son play football because the sport builds character, teamwork skills, and I believe there are always different ways to protect yourself during the game. Her strategy gives solutions to protect the brain against concussions. You speak up in order to have people acknowledging the fact that there is a problem and people should be more aware about it. We talk to coaches, legislators, etc., about keeping a safe ground and to show awareness to this problem. Another strategy she talks about is to study-up. She wants her audience to be familiar with concussions and the effects that come with them. The last strategy would be to suit-up. We need to find ways to prevent the first injury to occur with better protective gear.
