Muhammad, the final messenger of God, and his followers spread the message of Allah to the Arabs in the Arabian Peninsula in 610 CE. Surprisingly, Muhammad was pretty popular and his word, Islam, spread rather quickly because of Trade routes in the peninsula, the Muslims military conquest, and treaties and toleration. Out of all of those three main reasons why Islam spread fast, Treaties and Taxation was the most important.
The treaties and toleration that the Muslims assembled were the main reason why people either stayed in the Islam religion and others transferred and started practicing Islam. According to the Treaty of Tudmir, “In the name of God, the merciful and compassionate. We will not harass him, nor remove him from power. His followers will not be killed or taken prisoner, nor will they be separated from their women and children.” Since the treaty is fair and states that God’s followers will not be killed or arrested, people, such as the Moors who invaded the Christians, would feel more comfortable practicing a religion that’s fair. In the source titled, Treaty of Tudmir, it states, “They will not be coerced in matters of religion, their churches will not be burned, nor sacred objects be taken from the realm, as long as he remains sincere and fulfills these conditions that we have set for him: He will not give shelter to fugitives, nor encourage any protected person to fear us, nor conceal of news from our enemies.” To clarify, The Arabs made a deal with God that if he fulfills all their conditions, their will not be violence. Since, people believe in Allah, God, and have faith in him, they would stay in their religion because they felt protected. The reliability of the Treaty of Tudmir is alright because this text is a primary source or an actual or real piece of evidence from the past that explains what happened in a certain time and
