On July 16th, 1996 The New York Mets roughed up the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 7 to 5. One player who contributed to this win was a rookie by the name of Paul Wilson, who just came off six weeks of rest for his right shoulder. Although it was the return of Paul Wilson, there was another Met that over shadowed Wilson, and this guy was Jerry DiPolo. Mr. DiPolo came into the game during the fifth inning with runners on second and third and no outs. Outstandingly enough, he walked off that mound not conceding one run to the Phillies, which gave the crowd something to cheer about and he picked up the win, in just one inning that he pitched.

As a man who used to be a Jesus hater, not a follower, Paul spent most of his life following Christianity. “He spent the next 30 years traveling the eastern Mediterranean world, spreading Jesus’s teachings” (Doc F). The dedication of Paul’s teaching spread all over the Roman Empire. Traveling from Siden to Myra, all the way to Rome, Paul’s dedication greatly affected the way Christianity spread. Other early Christians also showed commitment and loyalty, even if their life was at stake.
Before Saul became a Christian he persecuted Christians, and he saw the Christian movement as a threat. Saul persecuted Christians and he approved the martyrdom of Stephen. He asked to travel abroad to hunt down more Christians to end the spread and movement. While on his trip, there was a big flash and Jesus spoke to Saul. Three days later one of God’s disciples went to Saul and cured his blindness, Saul was then baptized, changed his name to Paul, and began to preach God’s word.
He was beaten and thrown into prison. At this point, an earthquake opened all of the doors at the prison. In Acts 16, we know that God opened the jail doors and freed the prisoners from their shackles. The jailer ask Paul what he must do to be saved and Paul responds with the famous line “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-you and your household” (Acts 16:31

The apostle Paul (formerly Saul of Tarsus) is incontrovertibly one of Christianity’s most important founding figures (Penner). Once a Pharisee and a persecutor of Christians, Paul experienced a life-changing encounter with God on the road to Damascus, leading to his conversion to the Christian faith. Following his conversion, Paul became one of the New Testaments most prolific and outspoken evangelists, preaching throughout the Mediterranean, authoring a section of the New Testament called the “epistles” and playing a prevalent role in the book of Acts (ESV). Leading up to his address to the Areopagus in Athens, Paul went through numerous adversities including imprisonment, public humiliation, and floggings. Notwithstanding these persecutions, the ESV bible depicts Paul’s attitude in Athens as resolute and indefatigable – “his spirit was provoked within him”.
In summarization of Acts chapters 8-15, many people were saved and became believers even after they were well known for their sorcery or persecution of Christians such being the case of Saul who later became Paul. Also another interesting aspect of these chapters deals with and discusses how many signs and miracles were performed by the apostles as well as how Dorcas was raised to life again by Peter, Dorcas’s story is especially interesting since she was very much so mourned by others because of how generous she was as well as kind to everyone especially those in need as seen in the widows who showed Peter the clothes that Dorcas worked on for them. Paul was born in Tarsus in 10 AD, his birth name was Saul. Paul was raised in the Jewish faith and when he was younger he even persecuted Christians, taking part in the stoning of Saint Stephan, who was the first Christian martyr. However on the way to Damascus, Paul was blinded by a vision of Jesus that only he could see. Paul remained blind for three days until he was healed by a Christian. After his vision and healing Paul spread the religion of Jesus and dedicated his life to spreading the Christian message to communities beyond the Jewish faith.
In Acts chapter six, we get introduced to a man of God named Stephen. He was full of so much faith and the Holy Spirit. Although we don't know much about his personal life we know that Stephen was a man of God that was faithful to His King even when things were hard and he faced death.
