There are a few speech, language and communication difficulties that affects some of us during our lives. Among one of them is stammering. Stammering, also called stuttering, is a speech problem that happens during childhood and stays throughout adulthood. It is the act of saying words or sentences with difficulty, and repeating the initial letters of words, with sudden involuntary pauses. It is an involuntary act, that happens without warnings or that happens for certain particular words or during important moments. Sometimes, it is not only the initial letter of words that is repeated, but whole words, such as “you-you-you-you-you are his”. In answer to that and to fit in, he first decided to be the joker of the class and then joined drama classes after finding out that in front of an audience, his stuttering was almost non present. A few years later, he is now one of the most paid actors. His story is quite inspiring, in a way that from being the excluded kid and joke of the class, he became one of the most famous actors. He managed to overcame his stuttering so well, until it is quite a surprise to hear that he suffered from it, since it is not apparent in his films. Another celebrity is Elvis Presley, who used singing as a speech therapy method since he was young. In an interview, he said : ““Whenever I get excited, I stutter a bit. I have a hard time saying ‘when’ or ‘where’ or any words that start with ‘w’ or ‘i.’ And on some recordings, he can be heard stuttering, taking a pause, and then either trying to say the words again, or finding other words.
